La Trochita to Nahuel Pan
Our second day of boarding was also cancelled due to high winds. Gutted! So we took the opportunity to ride the "Viejo Expreso" - a narrow gauge steam train that rides through the valleys of Chubut and was apparently built, the engine at least, in Scotland.

Theres a wicked action shot of the train in Eds blog.
The views were interesting, despite the day being a bit overcast and rainy, alot of the scenery somewhat reminiscent of the rolling hills and valleys in parts of Britain.

After an hour we stopped at a tiny isolated village called Nahuel Pan where the locals all ran out of their houses to sell handmade gifts and foods to the tourists.
And having checked the timetable I can understand why; in high season there are 3 trains a day, seven days a week; thats 21 trains of dollar yielding tourists a week; we went in low season, where the timetable is cut to just 3 trains a week! So the residents obviously have a harder job making any money out of the tourists.
